Overview
Performance Evaluation of Deodorants
● Evaluate the odor reduction performance of deodorizing and deodorant products.
● Testing can be conducted using actual odors, such as tobacco smoke or grilled meat odors, or simulated odors generated from standard gases such as hydrogen sulfide.
● Test methods can be designed to evaluate odors in indoor spaces as well as odors adsorbed onto fabrics and other materials.
● Test chambers can range from small laboratory-scale containers of only a few liters to full-scale rooms of several tens of cubic meters, depending on the product application and budget.
● Performance is evaluated through sensory testing using the human sense of smell or by measuring odorant concentrations.
Sensory evaluation is particularly essential for assessing the perceived deodorizing effect of deodorant products.
● Testing in accordance with the efficacy evaluation methods established by the Air Fresheners & Deodorizers Conference of Japan is also available (our company is a member of the association).
Performance Evaluation of Air Purifiers and Deodorization Systems
● Evaluate the deodorizing performance of air purifiers and industrial deodorization systems.
● Both full-scale on-site evaluations and laboratory testing are available.
● Laboratory testing can be performed using actual odors, such as tobacco smoke and grilled meat odors,
or simulated odors generated from standard gases such as hydrogen sulfide.
● Both recirculation tests (monitoring odor reduction over time while the equipment operates in a test chamber)
and one-pass tests (evaluating odor removal efficiency after a single pass through the equipment) are available.
● Performance is evaluated through sensory testing or by measuring odorant concentrations.
● Testing in accordance with the performance evaluation guidelines of the Japan Air Cleaning Association (JACA) is also available (our company is a member of the association).

Evaluation Process
We design test methods and evaluation procedures in close consultation with our clients, taking into account the evaluation objectives, available budget, and product characteristics. Following the initial quotation and contract, testing begins. Because many projects require customized testing, issues and improvements are often identified during the evaluation process, and testing may proceed through ongoing discussions with the client.

- Test Design
We design the most appropriate test methods and evaluation procedures through consultation with the client based on the evaluation objectives, budget, and product characteristics.
For customized evaluations, a detailed test plan is prepared as needed, and specifications are finalized through consultation.

- Quotation and Contract
A quotation is prepared based on the agreed test specifications. If the proposed plan exceeds the available budget, the test specifications can be revised through discussion. We do not conduct evaluations if we determine that the evaluation objectives cannot be achieved within the budget or if we cannot take responsibility for the reliability of the results.

- Report Preparation
We prepare comprehensive reports describing both the test procedures and results in sufficient detail to allow the evaluation to be reproduced by others. Many clients use our reports, including report identification numbers, as technical evidence supporting product performance claims.
Upon request, we also provide result presentations and support joint publication of research papers.
