Overview

Organic compounds contained in samples are analyzed using a gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC/MS). Individual components are separated by the gas chromatograph (GC), and mass spectral data for each component are obtained using the mass spectrometer (MS). By comparing the acquired data with spectral databases, the organic compounds can be identified.

Step 1
Test Planning

We discuss your concerns, objectives, and sample characteristics, and then develop a test plan tailored to your requirements.

Step 2
Sample Collection

Samples are generally obtained using one of the following methods:
● Our survey staff visit the site and collect the samples.
● Samples are collected through demonstration or pilot testing when necessary.
● Samples are sent to us directly by the customer.

Step 3
Analysis

Components are extracted from the sample using organic solvents and analyzed qualitatively using GC/MS.
The analytical results are provided to the customer in the form of a report.

Notes

● Non-volatile compounds and compounds that are not registered in the mass spectral database cannot be identified through qualitative analysis.
● Whether quantitative analysis of the identified compounds can be performed must be evaluated separately.
