Overview

After placing the product or material inside the micro chamber, the sample is heated to a specified temperature (up to 250°C). Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other substances released from the sample are collected using adsorption tubes selected according to the target analytes. Following thermal desorption, solvent extraction, or other preparation procedures, the collected substances are analyzed using analytical instruments such as GC/MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) or HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography).

Applications

This method is used when it is necessary to evaluate outgassing emissions from products or materials during product development or when investigating customer complaints.

Micro chamber testing is also adopted in certain ISO standards, the RoHS Directive (*1), the REACH Regulation (*2), and other regulations. Testing can be performed in accordance with these standards for material verification, product evaluation, and investigation of defective or complaint products.

*1) European Union (EU) Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS)

*2) European Union (EU) Regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)

Survey and Analysis Process (After Your Request)

We first review the target product or material. After discussing the intended use conditions and requirements with you, we design the testing plan. Once the quotation is approved and the contract is completed, the evaluation testing begins. As many projects involve customized testing, actual testing may reveal additional issues or opportunities for improvement. In such cases, we proceed with the testing while consulting closely with you throughout the process.

Step 1
Test Design

We design the testing and evaluation methods in consultation with you, taking into account your evaluation objectives, budget, and the characteristics of the product or material. For customized testing, we prepare a detailed test plan when necessary and determine the final test specifications through detailed discussions.

Step 2
Quotation and Contract

We provide a quotation based on the agreed test specifications. If the proposed plan does not meet your budget, we will discuss and revise the test specifications accordingly. However, we do not perform tests if we determine that the evaluation objectives cannot be achieved within the available budget or if we cannot take responsibility for the reliability of the results.

Step 3
Analysis and Test Report

We perform the analysis according to the test design. Depending on the product, we may analyze multiple production lots or compare standard products with complaint samples. The analysis conditions and results are compiled into a comprehensive test report, which is then provided to you.
